Julia Hanna Honoured to be Nominated for 2023 Oakville Community Spirt Award

It is such an honour to be nominated for a 2023 Oakville Community Spirit Award in the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility Award category. I am forever grateful to my nominator, Alya Saab, who I have so much respect for. Alya was so dedicated to helping our Mayoral Candidate team in the 2022 Oakville Municipal election. I was friends with her father Faisal Saab who unfortunately died suddenly in early 2022 after a short illness. Alya joined our team shortly after her father’s death, and has taught us all so much. For Alya to nominate me in this category I am so very humbled.

My website and social media team reached out to Alya for a comment on this post and she stated:

I’m proud to see my friend Julia nominated for an Oakville Community Spirit Award. Julia has been steadfast in her commitment to help strengthen our town. She recognizes the struggles of those in her community and finds ways to leverage her skills and strengths to address their needs in ways that ensure they feel truly embraced and valued as neighbours and friends.”

There are some fabulous people who are nominated for awards here in Oakville this year. Congratulations to all of those nominated. All are very deserving of the recognition. Thanks to all of my fellow nominees for all that you do for our community. For a complete list of the nominees there is a great article in Inside Halton with more information.

I am especially pleased to see Jack Kukolic nominated in the Inspiration Award category. Jack joined me as a candidate for Oakville Mayor last year, and is a truly inspiring young man.

The awards will be announced at Queen Elizabeth Park Community Centre in Oakville on Thursday June 8, 2023 at 7pm. Tickets for the event are available online on the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts website.
